Three Hundred Fifty acres of farmland in the areas around Newbury, Massachusetts are baled by the Colby family each year. We've been in the hay business since 1960, and with that much experience Colby Farms is your best choice when it comes to purchasing good hay.
Haying is a 3 day process on the farm. First, we mow the hay fields and tedder it out for the sun to dry. In case you didn't grow up on a farm, a tedder is a machine used after we mow that "fluffs up" the hay so it can dry faster. Sometimes depending on the weather this step can take a few extra days. On the third day we have to rake it into rows and bale it up.
Each season we bale roughly 25,000 bales. Where does it all go? We Primarily sell our hay to local horse farms and construction companies. If you need quality hay for your animals, or anything else, Colby Farms will deliver and load it into your loft if needed.
Call, email, or stop by Colby Farmstand for hay pricing, availability, and scheduling a delivery.
